The overall goal is to contribute to creating an environment in which children are safeguarded and empowered to effectively participate in public life, development, survival and protection initiatives at a local level.

Intended Outcomes

To achieve this goal, there are four long term outcomes that the project intends to achieve:

1. Skilled, knowledgeable and functional community structures where children, youths and other vulnerable groups meaningfully participate

Having community structures that are active is pivotal for communities to initiate programmes and demand duty bearer response. It is also important to have various social groups represented in these structures because development issues can differ for people based on gender, age, social and religious aspects.

2. Improved public service delivery that is accessible, affordable and of high quality and contributes to the wellbeing of children and youth

This outcome will be attained through increased knowledge and skills among rights holders particularly children, youth and other vulnerable groups to engage with duty bearers who are responsive to community demands for improved service delivery. It is expected that capacity building will be critical for communities to identify issues, conduct deep analysis, identify duty bearers and engage with them.

3. Children, youth and community informed and aware of their rights and responsibilities and are able to question harmful practices and increase reporting and documentation of abuses and violations

CSP expects to reach a reasonable level of awareness that will enable children, youth and the community to deter all forms of harmful practices, attitudes and behaviour. This is premised on the fact that most rights abuses and violations stem from inadequate knowledge of human rights in general and child rights in particular.

4. Vulnerable children, youth and women are empowered to access socio-economic opportunities

Providing space for increased opportunities for youth and women to engage in economic activities in the first 3 years of project implementation that will, in the long run, lead to the attainment of the long-term goal. This will be a result of skills, knowledge and confidence amongst women to actively pursue economic activities.
