Legal representation is out of reach for the majority of Malawians. It’s either not available, or what services are provided are prohibitively expensive.
The legal support team aims to give people access to justice through representation and mediation services. This includes providing access to legal advice and support through our paralegal clinic in Mzuzu and community paralegals in Karonga and Nkhata Bay. Cases covered are principally related to gender-based violence, employment issues and land rights.
The team’s work extends to providing access to legal support for prisoners in Mzuzu Prison and supporting the work of the Child Justice Court in Mzuzu.
